Our Team

Dr Christina Ferry BDS Dip.MJDF(RCS Eng) MCGDent
GDC: 152073
Principal Dentist
Christina Ferry qualified from Glasgow university with commendation in 2008. She later graduated from the Royal College of Surgeon England with MJDF in 2012.
She joined Rutherglen HC Dental in 2012, when the original owner Therese MacLeod retired in 2016 Christina took over the practice & has spent recent years modernising and developing the practice to further improve patients experiences.
Christina is passionate about family dental care. Having two young child she knows how important it is to create an friendly, relaxed environment for children so that they have the best possible experiences & develop lifelong positive attitudes towards their dental health.
Aside from clinical dentistry Christina is heavily involved in dental politics both on a local level in Lanarkshire and on a national level. She is currently Chair of Lanarkshire Local Dental committee, a member of Lanarkshire Dental Advisory committee & Scottish Dental Practice Committee.
She chaired the Conference of Scottish Local Dental Committees for the last 2 years & sat on SDPC EXEC during the negotiation on the new NHS Dental contract. Involvement at this level means the practice is kept up to date with all policies and procedures, which was particularly important during the covid pandemic.
Outside of dentistry, Christina enjoys spending time with her husband, Stewart, and their children, Iona and Oran. A keen runner, she’s a member of the Garscube Harriers and is currently training for the Valencia Marathon later this year. She also loves baking with the kids—always with dentally approved treats, of course!

Dr Stewart Nicolson BDS
GDC: 84674
Principal Dentist
Stewart qualified as a dentist from Glasgow in 2004. He spent six years working in the West End before purchasing his own practice in 2011. In 2020, he sold the practice to join his wife, Christina, in working together—allowing them to spend more time with their two children, Iona and Oran.
With his laid-back personality, Stewart is great at putting patients at ease and creating a relaxed, welcoming environment. He has a keen interest in Invisalign and is always happy to discuss treatment options with patients looking to improve their smile.
Outside of dentistry, he keeps active in the gym or out running, enjoys snowboarding, cooking pizzas outdoors for the family, and watching the NFL (which he’ll happily talk about in great detail). He and Christina also completed a mixed doubles HYROX event together earlier this year.

Dr Emma Thomson BDS
GDC: 227236
Associate Dentist
Emma graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2012 and gained valuable experience working in several practices before first joining Rutherglen HC Dental in 2017 to cover Christina’s maternity leave. While we were heartbroken not to have space for her to stay at the time, the expansion of the practice in 2020 gave us the perfect opportunity to welcome her back—and both the team and her patients were delighted by her return.
Emma is a warm and compassionate dentist, particularly skilled at caring for children and anxious patients—something that comes naturally to her as a mum of two young girls, Amelia and Lucia. She builds strong relationships with her patients and takes pride in creating a comfortable, friendly environment.
Dedicated to continual learning, Emma frequently attends courses to keep her skills sharp and stay up to date with the latest developments in dentistry. She has a keen interest in facial aesthetics and loves working with patients to help them achieve the results they’re looking for.
Outside of the clinic, Emma enjoys spending time with her husband, Daniel, and their daughters. When she gets a rare moment to herself, she’ll often be found at the gym—or happily researching their next family holiday.

Monica Febrero-Smith BDS
GDC: 290111
Associate Dentist
Monica graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2020 and began her career working in the West End before joining Rutherglen HC Dental in 2023. She’s been a fantastic addition to the team, bringing not only clinical skill but a warm and friendly approach that puts patients instantly at ease.
Monica enjoys all aspects of dentistry and takes time to talk through treatment options with her patients, ensuring they feel informed and confident in their care. Her calm, relaxed nature—grounded by her love of meditation—makes her particularly good with nervous patients.
Outside of work, Monica is a keen runner. She completed the Glasgow Half Marathon last year and is currently training for the Skye Half Marathon. She’s also a talented cook, often making the rest of the team envious with her delicious homemade lunches & recipes.

Alicia Dillon BSc(Hons)
GDC: 255792
Hygiene-Therapist
Alicia joined the practice in 2023, but it already feels like she’s been part of the team forever. Originally starting out as a dental nurse, Alicia made the decision to return to university and graduated with honours from the University of Edinburgh in 2023 as a qualified hygiene therapist.
If warm and sunny were a person, it would be Alicia. She’s always got a smile on her face and brings a positive, uplifting energy to the practice. Passionate about oral health and patient care, Alicia has a natural ability to motivate and inspire patients to take charge of their dental hygiene like no one we’ve ever seen.
Alicia currently works with us on Wednesdays, and she’s been a truly wonderful addition to our team—we honestly don’t know what we’d do without her.

As the youngest member of the team, Rosie keeps us all feeling young and up to date with the latest news and trends. She brings a fun, friendly energy to the practice and is always ready with a smile and a chat to help put patients at ease. Hard-working and enthusiastic, Rosie has quickly become an invaluable part of our team.

Emma Paulley
Receptionist
Emma joined our team in 2023, bringing with her a wealth of experience from another local practice. Originally trained as a dental nurse, Emma discovered her true passion was at reception—so she made the switch and hasn’t looked back since.
Highly organised and always happy to help, Emma goes out of her way to accommodate patients and make them feel welcome, all while keeping things running smoothly at the front desk. She’s also a great chatter—so don’t be surprised if you find yourself having a laugh while waiting for your appointment!
Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time with her husband, Graeme, and their young son, Jack. She’s also an enthusiastic baker and often spoils the team with homemade treats (all dentally approved, of course!).
